Since 2018, the Moana Taka Partnership has steadily increased the volume of recyclable waste safely removed from Pacific Island Countries and Territories. This data page brings together key figures from 2018 to 2025, presenting a clear picture of how waste movements have scaled over time and how participation across the Pacific has evolved.
Over this period, the programme has enabled the shipment of 3,845 tonnes of recyclable waste from Pacific Island Countries and Territories, with 1,731 tonnes shipped in 2024 alone. To date, 16+ eligible countries and territories have been serviced through the Swire Shipping network, with 10+ shippers contributing to programme activity. In total, 341 TEUs have been moved since launch, reflecting the growing scale and consistency of waste removal efforts across the region.

Plastics represent the largest share of material shipped (2,915 tonnes), followed by paper and cardboard, scrap metal, used oil, e waste, and other recyclable materials.
